Signs of a Dirty Air Filter

After one purchases a Honda from Los Angeles, the last thing on their mind is going to have to do with repairs and future problems. This is perfectly normal and understandable. However, one should keep in mind that after a while, any car is likely to need some maintenance to avoid costly repairs further down the line. One element that should be changed every 10,000 to 15,000 miles is the air filter. The reason for this is that the engine of a car uses both gasoline and air to create power. The air filter is the one allowing air to come through to the engine, and it is made to keep debris out. After being used for some time, it will get clogged with debris, not allowing enough air to come through.

Reduced Fuel Economy

When less air comes to the engine, it has to use up more fuel to produce the same amount of power. As such, when one notices that their fuel economy is going down, they should seriously consider replacing the air filter. Now, this is not an issue someone who has just purchased a new Honda from Los Angeles will have, because newer cars adjust the flow of fuel according to the amount of air the engine gets.

Misfiring Engine

When one is having difficulties starting their car up or if they have to rev the engine quite a bit to get it going, it could be because it is not getting enough air. Indeed, when too much fuel is being sent to the engine, the engine may end up flooding, and the spark plug may get polluted. When this happens, fuel that is not burnt starts to exist in the form of soot residue. As such, when one is having a hard time starting their engine up, they should consider looking at the air filter.

Engine Noise

When the engine noise of a Honda from Los Angeles, or of any other car for that matter, is strange, it is always a sign of worry. In some cases, this could be because of a dirty spark plug, which may have become polluted because of the fuel flooding. 

Check Engine Light

When the check engine light is on, it could be because of a number of reasons, and one of those reasons could be a dirty air filter. As such, if one sees this light, they should be sure to take their car in for further evaluation, so that they will be able to pinpoint the exact cause.
